Moving is something we all do at some time or another.  It means finding a new school, doctor, grocery store and a new  veterinarian to care for your four-legged family member.

To help you find a veterinarian that fits the needs of your family and pet we suggest the following:

Tour the clinic - A veterinary clinic should not
turn you away or decline a request to take a
tour of their facility.  At OAH we welcome visitors
and tours!

Talk to the staff and veterinarian.  Find out if they
offer services that fit your needs and that of your
breed or pet.  Veterinarians are very busy and so
we recommend making an appointment to sit
with the doctor and have your new client
questions answered.  You can do this at a first
pet visit or as part of your decison making
process before you choose a veterinarian.

Check medical licenses.  They should be
displayed or available for you to view if you
request to do so.  Most states also offer a way to
check medical licesnses of any type, including
veterinarians.

In Michigan you can check your veterinarian's
license at http://www.cis.state.mi.us/free/default.asp?profession=veterinarian
